Email: [email protected] Bio: Miriam Culley, clarinetist and teacher. Miriam is currently in her 25th year as Principal Clarinet in the Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra, and the Second Clarinetist for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Miriam also performs frequently in all positions from principal clarinet to Bass and Eb clarinet with the Dayton Philharmonic. One of Cincinnati’s top free-lace musicians, she has appeared with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops, and Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, as well as the Indianapolis chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Ballet Orchestra and the Lexington Philharmonic. Miriam received her Bachelor of Music degree from DePaul University in Chicago, IL and her Master of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where she was a Concerto Competition winner. In the summer she has performed with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra (NY) and has also participated in many summer music festivals, including the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, the Great Woods Institute and the Aspen Music Festival. As a chamber musician, Miriam’s accolades include first place in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (woodwind quintet), and a top ten finish at the Munich Competition in Germany, also with woodwind quintet. In addition to her performance career, Miriam’s love for teaching is evident by a thriving private lesson studio. Many of her students participate in District 14 and All State Honor Bands, Jr. & HS Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, plus Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. Miriam started her own training in the public school system and loves to continue the legacy of excellence in that setting. |
