Sycamore High School Orchestras

The Sycamore High School offers three levels of curricular orchestra for string players that meet each school day. Students with previous experience playing violin, viola, cello, and double bass can participate in this ensembles. Concert Orchestra is exclusively for 9th grade students, while Philharmonic Orchestra is made up of more experienced players. The most experienced players at Sycamore High School make up the Symphony Orchestra. The Sycamore High School Orchestras play masterworks and modern music for string orchestra. Student in Symphony Orchestra combine with winds and percussion to form the Full Symphony Orchestra. Students in this ensemble also have the opportunity to participate in solo and chamber music experiences. The Orchestra typically performs 3-4 on-campus concerts per year, as well as occasional participation in OMEA large group, solo and ensemble, or other festival or collaborative performances.
