E.H. Greene Intermediate School 5th Grade Beginning Orchestra
Instructors: Tanner Otto, Sean Lewis
Our youngest instrumentalists begin their musical journey in 5th grade with beginning orchestra. Students are matched with an appropriate instrument that also captures their interest through our one-on-one evaluation process in spring of the 4th grade year. Students begin playing their instruments starting at step one in the beginning of the 5th grade year. During this year they learn the fundamentals of tone production, posture, music reading, and collaborative music making. No experience is required and there are no course prerequisites for participation in beginning orchestra. 5th grade orchestra meets two days in the four day specials rotation in like instrument groups (violin, viola, cello/bass) at E.H. Greene Intermediate School.
