Sycamore High School Concert Bands
Instructors: Emily Conn, Micah Ewing, Ryan Lamb, David Swift, Jordan VonWahlde
The three Sycamore High School Concert Bands are curricular, ability based ensembles that meet each school day. These ensembles include Sycamore Winds (Band III), Wind Symphony (Band II), and Symphonic Band (Band I). Students who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments can be placed in one of these ensembles, based upon audition results and teacher recommendation. Music making opportunities through the concert band courses include traditional large wind band repertoire, small ensemble, and solo playing. The concert bands typically perform 3-4 on campus concerts per year, as well as occasional participation in OMEA large group, solo and ensemble, or other festival performances. Participation in concert band is the foundation to other performing opportunities, such as Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra, and Winter Percussion.
