Email: Click Here Bio: Michael Calland is a graduate of Miami University with a degree in Music Education. He began and ended his teaching career in Clermont County. He was band director at Bethel-Tate and ended his teaching career at West Clermont Schools as Director of Music for Amelia Middle and High Schools. In between those two teaching positions, he moved to Los Angeles where he pursued a performing career. While there he travelled with the professional bands of Jimmy Dorsey, Alvino Rey, and Stan Kenton. Those bands performed on cruise ships, Las Vegas, and Vancouver with Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, and Helen Forrest. In addition, he performed in pit orchestras, recording studios, and taught private trombone and piano lessons. He is currently retired from teaching but is performing with the Jazz Educators Big Band and spends time with his wife, JoAnne, and two rescue dogs and one rescue cat in Milford. |
